I'm a human rights activist voicing the first female led revolution that is currently ongoing in Iran.
Feel free to explore the Tehran to Miami book to better understand my background and mission.
Tehran to Miami is a unique memoir of survival. It follows the story of Donya, a woman who lives through religious persecution in Iran in the 1980s.
She becomes an advocate for her generation, namely those growing up in the wake of the Islamic revolution of 1979 and the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s.
This generation suffered immensely, and weathered frequent scarcity of food, energy, and other essential resources. They were brain washed in school and taught to hate the West.
In the case of the Baha’is and converts to Christianity, they were subjected to systemic injustice and widespread discrimination.
This is the first book to present the myriad of Iranian cultures and traditions in accessible language, and captivating stories from the 1980s.
It features prominently the difficulties experienced by the largest Iranian minority-woman- where they navigate through the injustice of a male dominated society and are stripped of their rights by the Islamic Republic.
(Short Film)
Donya's passion for shedding light on the plight of religious minorities in Iran led her to create the short film "The Ticket," which received international acclaim and multiple awards.
